Katy and Daniel are on holiday at the seaside. Every day they play on a lovely sandy beach and paddle in the sea.

One day the baby subs, Eddie, Freddie, Maisie, Daisie and Sam hear two fishermen talking on their boat in a near-by berth.

Katy and Daniel wake up to find a thick covering of frost over everything – the trees, the walls, the grass. The sun is shining and everywhere is sparking like diamonds. It looks like fairyland.

Katy is playing with her friend, Poppy. Poppy looks very sad.

Daniel, Katy, Matthew and Poppy are playing at detectives.

“The first thing we must do is to be able to send secret messages to each other,” says Daniel.

Katy and Daniel with their Mummy and Daddy are shipwrecked on a desert island

Daniel and Katy have just moved into a new house with their Mummy and Daddy. They like the new house. It is in a village with a village green, an old church and a village shop. The new house has a garden where they can play. Daddy says they can each have a small garden of their own. At the bottom of the garden is a low fence and over the fence is a wood. They decide they will to explore the wood one day.

That night they moor the narrowboat in a cutting. Just as it is getting dark Mummy looks out of a window and then whispers to Katy, Daniel and Daddy to keep quiet and look out of the window. They see a fox on the bank. They keep very still and another fox comes. Then three baby foxes join them. The baby foxes play. They tumble down the bank, then scramble up and tumble down again.

Katy and Daniel are in the village shop to buy some milk for their Mummy. Mr Elliot, the shopkeeper, is usually very cheerful, but today he looks a bit worried.

Smokey is a dragon who lives in a cave near a village. He is a very friendly dragon and all the villagers likes him. He used to frighten everyone because, when he was excited, he breathed fire and smoke from his mouth; but he learned to control his excitement.

A little Christmas tree in a wood is all alone and unhappy until...

Katy and Daniel are very excited. It is Christmas Eve and Mummy and Daddy are busy getting everything ready for Christmas Day.

Mummy looks up from making mince pies and says, “We have not heard any carol singers this year. It doesn’t feel like Christmas without carol singers.”

A long time ago there are lots of dragons. One of these dragons is Smoky who lives in a cave on a hill near to a village. 

Mark, the fisherman, is in his boat with his daughter, Lisa. They have been checking his lobster pots. Lisa is leaning on the side of the boat looking at her bracelet sparkling in the sunshine. She likes her bracelet very much. She takes it off to look at it more closely. Suddenly a wave hits the boat, and Lisa drops her bracelet into the sea.

One day, soon after Christmas, Katy and Daniel come home from school and Mummy says, “I had a visitor today. Mrs Millburn came to ask if you are both still interested in singing in a choir.”

Daniel and Katy are excited. A new family is moving in today into the house across the road. They decide to play in the front garden where they can see the house across the road.

It is Christmas Eve. Daniel and Katy are very excited. They love Christmas time. It is getting dark and there is snow on the ground. They look out of the window and the moon is making the snow glitter. It looks magical. Katy sees a small animal in the garden. Could it be a rabbit? No! It is not a rabbit. She looks again and points it out to Daniel.

Daniel finds that some people are not as bad as he thought. 

Five new baby submarines have just been made and they are all in the submarine harbour. They are painted in bright colours and are made to go on the sea, and under the sea. They are called Eddie, Freddie, Maisie, Daisie and Sam.

A squirril feeder becomes a nesting box.  

Will Katy and Daniel flood their home?

Katy and Daniel are on holiday on the canals with Mummy, Daddy and their dog Vic. They are on a narrowboat. This is like a caravan on water. Daddy tells them that, before railways and motorways, canals were the main way to carry food, coal, pots, pans and everything else all over the country.

It is playtime at school. Katy and her friend Poppy are in the playground having a game of hop scotch. They like this game because you have to be very careful how you throw the stone into the right square. You also have to hop. Other friends join in and they have great fun.

Daniel is going to the village shop for his Mummy. On his way he passes a house with an overgrown garden. It looks just like a jungle. On the doorstep of the house is a little old lady hitting some of the weeds with a stick. She looks up and sees Daniel at the gate.

Katy and Daniel are very excited. It is Christmas Eve and Mummy and Daddy are busy getting everything ready for Christmas Day.
