Sam the Baby Sub

Five new baby submarines have just been made and they are all in the submarine harbour. They are painted in bright colours and are made to go on the sea, and under the sea. They are called Eddie, Freddie, Maisie, Daisie and Sam.
First they make sure everything works properly. Next they have to dive under the water, because that is what submarines do. Eddie, Freddie Maisis and Daisie all dive down, but Sam says he does not want to get his new paint wet. Really he is too frightened to go under the water.
The other submarines laughed at Sam for being silly. They dive down again. Up they all come – Eddie, Freddie, Maisie - but where is Daisie? She has not come up. They are young and do not know what to do. All, that is, except Sam who immediately says she must be in trouble, and he dives down to find Daisie.
Daisie is caught up in an old fishing net. Using a special arm he untangles Daisie until she gets free of the net. Soon they are both safely on the surface.
The other submarines think Sam is very brave, but tell him his new paint is now wet. Sam says this does not matter at all when a friend is in danger.
That night in the submarine harbour Daisie snuggles up to Sam and says, “Thank you, my hero!” Sam blushes. Then they all settle down to sleep for the night.
