Katy Daniel and Friends Sing Carols at Christmas

Katy and Daniel are very excited. It is Christmas Eve and Mummy and Daddy are busy getting everything ready for Christmas Day.

Mummy looks up from making mince pies and says, “We have not heard any carol singers this year. It doesn’t feel like Christmas without carol singers.”

Katy looks at Daniel and, without saying a word, they both go into their front garden and sing a carol especially for their Mummy. She smiles happily to herself when she hears her children singing.

Mathew, their friend who lives across the road, hears them and comes to join in. Then they go to Matthew’s home to sing there. Hearing the carol makes Matthew’s Mummy and Daddy smile too.

Just then their friend, Poppy, walks past and stops to join in. Then she asks them to sing at her house for her Mummy and Daddy.

Soon more friends and even grown ups including Katy and Daniel’s Mummy and Daddy join them and they all sing carols together in the centre of the village. Their voices carry all over the village in the still frosty air and clouds of mist come from their mouths because the air is so cold. They enjoy singing together so much that they all agree they will meet after Christmas and sing together again – but that is another story!

Mrs. Millburn, who they used to think was a witch but now know is a very kind lady, invites all the singers to her home for hot drinks and mince pies. Her home is nice and warm, and soon everyone is chatting happily together, and even singing a few carols. All too soon it is time to go home.

On the way home Katy and Daniel look up at the starry sky, and suddenly all the stars seem to be floating gently down to the ground. It has started to snow!

“I love Christmas,” says Daniel.

"So do I," whispers Katy.
