Katy Daniel and the Newspaper Round

Katy and Daniel are in the village shop to buy some milk for their Mummy. Mr Elliot, the shopkeeper, is usually very cheerful, but today he looks a bit worried.
“Is anything the matter, Mr Elliot?” asks Daniel.
“Not really,“ says Mr Elliot. “It is just that my van has broken down and the garage say they cannot repair it before tomorrow afternoon. I do not see how I can get all my newspapers delivered before I have to open the shop in the morning.”
When they get back home they tell Uncle Ben, Mummy’s brother who is staying with them, about Mr Elliot’s problem.
“Is he a nice man, and would you like to help him?” asks Uncle Ben.
Katy says, “He is very nice. He has a parrot that can make a noise like crying and can say some words.”
“In that case we really must help him,’ says Uncle Ben with a laugh. “I will go and talk to him. We will also need the help of Matthew and Poppy, your friends.”
Can you think what they do?
Uncle Ben has a car, and very early the next morning they go in Uncle Ben’s car to pick up first Matthew, and then Poppy. Then they drive to the village shop and pick up all the newspapers that have to be delivered. Uncle Ben drives to each house, and one of the children jumps out with the right newspaper for that house and puts it in the letterbox.
They are so quick that soon all the newspapers have been correctly delivered.
The shopkeeper is so pleased that he gives them each a bar of chocolate.
Even the parrot says, “Tank ooo very muck!” He is still learning to say some words!
Then they all go back to Katy and Daniel’s house where their Mummy has prepared a scrumptious breakfast for everyone.
